The Joint Task Force-Space Defense Commercial Operations cell (JCO) hosts bi-weekly Defense Readiness Agile Gaming Online Network (DRAGON) Army Operations days in order to continuously develop, test and refine the organization’s operations.

Global Sentinel 22 Mentors Embody Pathway to Partnerships

More than 150 participants from 25 countries participated in the Global Sentinel Capstone event at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., July 25 to Aug. 3, 2022. Playing a major role in the overall effectiveness of this year’s capstone event were the mentors. Global Sentinel, which began in 2014, is U.S. Space Command’s single largest multinational event to strengthen partnerships with other space-faring nations to promote cooperation and safe, secure space operations. During the event, each participating nation maintained a Space Operations Center. The nations also organized into eight Regional SpOCs, with a mentor assigned to each region.

U.S. Space Command partners with National Guard State Partnership Program to strengthen space cooperation

U.S. Army Brigadier General Jesse Morehouse, U.S. Space Command’s deputy director for policy, plans and strategy, and members of the National Guard Bureau will visit multiple National Guard locations in the next two months to discuss the importance of partners and allies, security cooperation, and the value the National Guard’s State Partnership Program brings to US Space Command.

25 Nations Participate in Global Sentinel 22

U.S. Space Command hosted Global Sentinel’s annual capstone event from July 25 to Aug. 3, 2022, at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif. Global Sentinel is USSPACECOM’s premier security cooperation effort, design to strengthen and grow international partnership, improve operational collaboration and promote responsible behavior in the space domain.

USSPACECOM’s Scotty Van Sant Presented Colombian Ad Astra Medal by President of the Republic of Colombia

Scotty Van Sant, U.S. Space Command’s Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Data Sharing Program manager, was awarded the Colombian Ad Astra Medal by the President of the Republic of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez, on July 28, 2022. Van Sant was presented the award due to a history of involvement with the Colombian military’s growing space program. This began with a subject matter expert exchange in Bogota in 2019, and culminated in being the lead negotiator for the US-Colombia SSA signed in 2021.
