WHY WE ENGAGE ACADEMIA

U.S. Space Command collaborates with Academia to:

• Shape the future workforce - by creating a more diverse, robust and accessible pool of qualified Space professionals for military and civilian work roles within the Space Mission Force.

• Increase Space applied research and innovation - with cutting-edge research to better understand technical and non-technical (policy, law, threat trends) options, problems, solutions, and innovation opportunities.

• Expand Space-focused academic partnerships - through exchanges and directed research to foster unique competencies, capacities, and expertise that will provide insight into adversaries' cyberspace activities

• Enrich strategic Space dialogue - by informing academic institutions of the command’s roles, authorities, key issues and responsibilities in National security and Space operations.

Academic institutions that have joined USSPACECOM’s Academic Engagement Enterprise will:

• Receive Defense-level Space Learning outcomes, competencies and behaviors, that could enhance your students, programs, and collaborative research

• Receive invitations to exclusive events hosted by USSPACECOM: Webinars, AEE Symposiums, Space Symposium key senior leader level leadership
discussions

• Access to guest speakers from USSPACECOM on various space subjects to enhance faculty and student professionalization

• Engage in collaborative research, technology integration, student internships, and Tier 1 Exercise integration
