Assistant commandant, other top USMC leaders get look at USSPACECOM capabilities

Gen. Gary Thomas, Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, visited Peterson Air Force Base and Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, on Dec. 10-11. During the stop, Thomas and a group of leaders from organizations across the Marine Corps visited with the U.S. Space Command command team, U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson and Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, and leaders of Joint Task Force-Space Defense, the National Space Defense Center and 527th Space Aggressors Squadron.

From space traffic monitoring to human space flight rescue, Vandenberg units provide integral support to NASA missions

Since 1958, the Department of Defense has provided human space flight support to NASA. This legacy of partnership and support continues today, and has grown to include a wide joint and international military presence. At Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, the Combined Force Space Component Command and its subunit the Combined Space Operations Center provide a variety of support to NASA missions, while also exemplifying how partnering with other military services and allies can benefit all.
