Army space embraces major changes as new battlefield emerges

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — After Capt. Robert Franchino attended the basic course for Army space cadre, the military intelligence officer was hooked. "It lit a fire," he said. "I was interested and engaged the entire time, and I just knew I wanted to be involved in space operations somehow in the military for the rest of my career." Now a space operations officer through U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense School's Functional Area 40 qualification course, Franchino said he's excited about the work.

USSPACECOM expands key allied space partnerships through multi-nation operations

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. — National security in the space domain continues to expand its operational coordination and capabilities between the U.S. Space Command and allied nations. A multi-national space force, a strategic defense partnership between several nations including the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, operate together at the Combined Space Operations Center. Additional nations collaborating on space operations with the CSpOC include Germany, France and New Zealand.

AFSPC hosts first Direct Ascent Program

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Air Force Space Command recently hosted its first-ever Direct Ascent Program, an initiative created to bring together top-performing company grade and non-commissioned officers to broaden their scope and understanding of the AFSPC mission and larger strategic picture of the evolving space structure within the Department of Defense.

Shaw and Whiting trade places, both Space Commands win big
