PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. –
U.S. Space Command leaders welcomed Major General Masahiro Asaka, deputy director general of the Operations Department, Joint Staff, Japan Self Defense Forces, for a three-day visit to Peterson Space Force Base, Nov. 19-21, where they held U.S.-Japan Staff Talks. They discussed cooperation in the space domain, as well as land, maritime, and air domains, and agreed on a direction to advance these efforts. Japan is also a member of the Combined Space Operations Initiative – a group of ten nations that work together to promote the responsible and lawful use of space. USSPACECOM, working with Allies and Partners, plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats.
