SDA capabilities, space threats topics during delegate visit

U.S. Army Gen. James Dickinson, commander of U.S. Space Command, and U.S. Space Force Brig. Gen. Dennis Bythewood, deputy commander of Joint Task Force-Space Defense, hosted Sen. Michael Bennet and Rep. Jason Crow, both from Colorado, on Oct. 15, 2021. Leaders from USSPACECOM and JTF-SD briefed Bennet and Crow on threats to the space domain, current space domain awareness capabilities and plans the newest combatant command has to protect and defend the space domain.

JTF-SD plans, directs, executes, assesses and supports steady state and contingency space operations using assigned and attached space forces, and is responsible for the defense of U.S. military space systems, commercial, civil, allied and partner on-orbit space assets as directed.

Bennet serves on the Senate Select Committees on Intelligence and Finance. Crow serves on the House Armed Services Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
