CSpOC officer receives UK Space Operations Badge

By Capt. Jefferson Mitchell Combined Force Space Component Command

Royal Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Paul Godfrey, United Kingdom Space Command commander, presents U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Michaela Schannep, Director of Operations for the 55th Combat Training Squadron, with a U.K. Space Operations Badge in recognition of Schannep’s status as a U.K.-qualified space instructor.

Godfrey's stop at Vandenberg Space Force Base was part of a recent visit to the U.S. where he also observed Space Force's Space Flag, a simulated training exercise at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado. Godfrey, a fighter pilot, was announced as UKSPACECOM's first commander earlier this year. UKSPACECOM officially formed on April 1.

The 55th CTS was recently redesignated as the 55th CTS from the 614th Combat Training Squadron. The 55th supports U.S. Space Command's Combined Space Operations Center and the U.S. Space Force's Space Operations Command under Delta 5.
