PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. –
Ambassador Marshall S. Billingslea, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Arms Control, met with senior leaders from U.S. Space Command and United States Strategic Command on Dec. 15 to discuss space and nuclear inputs to meaningful arms control. Deterring those who would put critical U.S. interests at risk is one of USSPACECOM's highest priorities.
“Deterring our competitors and adversaries from taking irresponsible actions, particularly with respect to challenging our critical space and nuclear assets, is one of the cornerstones of our mission,” said U.S. Army Gen. Jim Dickinson, USSPACECOM Commander. “Our ability to effectively deter, and if necessary, defeat those threats goes hand-in-hand with the work that Ambassdor Billingslea is trying to accomplish with moving meaningful arms control forward. USSPACECOM looks forward to seeing how the Department of Defense and Department of State work hand-in hand."
