CAVALIER AIR FORCE STATION, N.D. –
Army Gen. James Dickinson, commander of U.S. Space Command, visited Cavalier Air Force Station, North Dakota, on Sept. 14 to understand the installation’s significance to U.S. Space Force’s efforts.
Dickinson toured the Perimeted Aqcuisition Radar Attack Characterization System building, which allows Cavalier Airmen to provide strategic missile warning and space domain awareness to the United States and its international partners.
“Space is a warfighting domain,” Dickinson said during his recent change of command ceremony at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. “Not because we want it to be, but because our adversaries have seen the advantages that space has provided to our way of life and our way of war and they continue to seek ways to hold our space assets at risk.”
Recently sworn in to the Space Force, Cavalier Airmen had the opportunity to talk to Dickinson in an open question-and-answer forum following his PARCS tour. He emphasized that their jobs are essential to the space warfighting mission, which reflected the message he gave during his assumption of command.
“Our adversaries are weaponizing space…and we will not stand by to allow that to happen,” he said. “Today, we stand postured and prepared to deter, and if necessary, defeat those threats.”
