Jeffrey “Opie” Schreiner, U.S. Strategic Command Global Operations director, Mr. Robert Cunniff, U.S. Northern Command Operations deputy director, and Maj. Gen. Anthony Mastalir, USSPACECOM Global Space Operations director, sit on the panel “CCMD J3s: The Case for space: Opportunities and Challenges For/From the Warfighter” during the 2026 Space Warfighter Forum (SWF) at the Hotel Polaris in Colorado Springs, Colorado, August 27, 2026. The SWF, hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association, convened Aug. 25-27 to discuss lessons from current warfighting operations, needs for future conflicts, and how to get industry innovation into the warfighters’ hands. This year's theme, "Forged for the Fight," focused on integrating allies and industry for space superiority, and brought together representatives from government, industry and academia. USSPACECOM, working with Allies and Partners, plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats.
