The NATO Military Committee and staff gather at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, Colorado Springs, Colo., on March 7, 2024, underscoring the city’s vital role in global security. The visit, part of a two-day tour, showcased how Colorado Springs’ robust military community can directly support Alliance members as they prepare to lead their own efforts in the space domain. CMSFS serves as a critical hub for NORAD and U.S. NORTHCOM’s Alternate Joint Operations Center, a training site for crew qualifications, and several other Department of Defense missions. These capabilities are essential for national security and play a significant role in NATO’s collective defense efforts by providing critical information and coordination in the event of a global security crisis.
