Gen. Stephen Whiting, U.S. Space Command commander, speaks to attendees during the USSPACECOM 5th Annual Legal Conference at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Feb. 27, 2025. During his remarks, Whiting emphasized USSPACECOM’s mission and the vital role of space lawyers in ensuring legal compliance and shaping actions to secure the domain’s future. The three-day hybrid event, themed “Space Law in the Decisive Decade,” brought together about 520 participants, in-person and online, from the U.S. military, intergovernmental agencies, academia, and the commercial space sector to discuss space cooperation. USSPACECOM, working with Allies and Partners, plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats.
