Canadian Joint Operations Command commander visits U.S. Space Command
Gen. Stephen Whiting, U.S. Space Command commander, poses for a photo with Lieutenant General Steve Boivin, Commander, Canadian Joint Operations Command, during a visit to Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado, Jan. 27, 2025. The visit strengthened the vital relationship between USSPACECOM and its Canadian space partners. Canada is a member of Multinational Force-Operation OLYMPIC DEFENDER, which focuses on optimizing space operations, improving mission assurance, enhancing resilience of space-based systems, synchronizing efforts to strengthen deterrence against hostile actors and reducing the spread of debris orbiting in space. USSPACECOM, working with Allies and Partners, plans, executes, and integrates military spacepower into multi-domain global operations in order to deter aggression, defend national interests, and when necessary, defeat threats.
