Ceremony recognizes C/JFSCC designation, deactivates CFSCC, JTF-SD

The unit was formed as a functional component command under USSPACECOM Aug. 29, 2019, and recognized in an establishing ceremony Oct. 21, 2019. The joint responsibilities of JTF-SD and the Combined Force Space Component Command at Vandenberg SFB, Calif., have been realigned under the Combined Joint Force Space Component Commander Lt. Gen Douglas Schiess. Through the partnering of the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and National Reconnaissance Office, the National Space Defense Center, will continue to execute its protect and defend mission.
