U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. John Shaw, U.S. Space Command deputy commander, greets French Air and Space Force Gen. Phillipe Lavigne, NATO Supreme Allied Commander, Transformation (SAC-T), during an engagement at USSPACECOM headquarters, Feb. 3, 2023. NATO’s SAC-T is responsible for leading the warfare development of NATO military structures, forces, capabilities, and doctrines, and most recently has overseen the establishment of NATO’s Space Centre of Excellence. When opened, the centre will provide knowledge, analysis, and products covering three operational functions – space domain awareness, operational space support, and space domain coordination – while stimulating space expertise sharing and interoperability amongst allies and partners.
