U.S. Space Command Mission

The USSPACECOM mission is to deter aggression and conflict, defend U.S. and allied freedom of action, deliver space combat power for the Joint/Combined force and develop space forces to advance U.S. and allied interests in, from and through the space domain.

One unified team with combat ready forces prepared to fight for and preserve U.S. and Allied space superiority.

USSPACECOM forces are comprised of one warfighting team of multiple Joint, Combined, Inter-Agency, and Civilian members with a singular focus on providing localized, regional, and theater space combat power to the National Command Authorities (NCA).  Our overriding objective is the establishment, defense, and preservation of U.S. and Allied space superiority through space combat operations for the sake of continued freedom of operations in space.

Mission success using today's multi-domain operations simply doesn't allow for an independent and isolated approach to national security objectives.  We will be fully integrated with other Combatant Commands, and our mission partners, in pursuit of national security objectives in both our supporting, and supported roles.  Our Integrated Planning Elements, located within the staffs of those Combatant Commands, will be on point to ensure effectiveness of this integration.  Along with our internal combat readiness, this will in turn assure a credible national deterrence posture and war-fighting mission effectiveness should deterrence fail.
